The Best Team in Our Coverage Area Went 32-7 Last Year. It Plays Volleyball in Oneida.
The best team in the Muddy River Sport coverage area last season did not play football, did not play in Galesburg, and won 32 games.
ROWVA/Williamsfield volleyball went 32-7 and won the Lincoln Trail Conference at 11-1. No other program in this coverage area, in any sport, came close to that. The Cougars open the 2026 season Monday at Brimfield.
Putting 32-7 in perspective

For a co-op drawing from Oneida and Williamsfield — two towns whose combined population would fit inside a single Galesburg subdivision — that is a genuinely remarkable season, and one that got a fraction of the coverage a 2-7 football team got.
That imbalance is a big part of why this site exists.

The first area-versus-area match: Monmouth-Roseville at Knoxville, Wednesday, August 26. United visits ROWVA/Williamsfield the same night in what should be the better of the two.
Monmouth-Roseville is down to eight or nine players
The Titans went 11-26 and 0-11 in the Three Rivers Conference last season, and the roster situation going into 2026 is difficult. Principal Eric Matthews said in mid-August that varsity volleyball is carrying eight or nine players.
A volleyball team needs six on the floor. Eight or nine means no meaningful substitution, no margin for injury or illness, and a long season if either arrives.
The encouraging part, and Matthews made this point himself: freshman, sophomore and junior-high numbers at Mon-Rose are strong. This looks like a gap in two graduating classes rather than a program in decline. Kristen Mynatt coaches.
Galesburg opens on the road
The Silver Streaks went 15-21 and 3-11 in the Western Big 6, eighth in the conference. They open Tuesday at Morton, host Canton on August 27 and Quincy on August 29, then begin conference play at home against Moline on September 3. Nicole Kisler coaches, with Brynn Atwell and Wendy Huft assisting.
What we are still missing
We could not confirm coaches at every program, and we would rather leave a name out than print the wrong one. If you coach an area volleyball team — or know who does — send it in and we will get it right.
We are also chasing IHSA regional and sectional dates. What we can confirm: state semifinals are Friday, November 13 and finals Saturday, November 14, in Normal.
