Stark County Rebels Girls Basketball: 2026-27 Schedule and History
Stark County Rebels · Toulon, Illinois · Lincoln Trail Conference
Coach: Bob Bohm · All-time: 559-327 (.631) · 31 recorded seasons
Stark County girls basketball reached the Illinois state finals in 2007 and has one of the better winning percentages in the area. The record then falls off a cliff, and the IHSA stops recording it in 2023.
2006-07: the state trip
Stark County went 26-6 under Scott Paxson, won a regional, won a sectional, won the super-sectional and qualified for the Class A state finals. The IHSA’s Place column for that team is blank, so they came home without a trophy — the 2006-07 Class A title went to Breese Central, with Rochester runners-up.
It remains the only state finals appearance in programme history.
The full record
Regional titles (10): 1993-94, 1995-96, 1998-99, 1999-00, 2000-01, 2001-02, 2002-03, 2006-07, 2008-09, 2010-11.
Sectional titles (2): 2006-07, 2010-11.
State finals (1): 2006-07.
Five regionals in five consecutive seasons from 1998-99 to 2002-03. Then the 2006-07 run, then one more sectional in 2010-11. Nothing since.
Scott Paxson coached here for twenty-two years
Paxson’s main tenure runs 379-215 across twenty seasons — a .638 record — with a further two years filed separately as “Scott E Paxson” at 12-31. He also coached the predecessor school, Toulon (Toulon-LaFayette), going 13-53 across three seasons from 1989-90 before the consolidation.
Nearly every piece of hardware this programme owns was won under him.
Then it collapsed
The last three documented seasons: 11-2 in the shortened 2020-21, then 1-29, then 7-23.
A one-win season immediately after an 11-2 one is a startling swing, and it is the last full year Paxson is recorded as coaching. Bob Bohm took over for 2022-23 and went 7-23.
The IHSA has nothing after 2022-23 — three seasons missing. Bohm is listed for 2026-27 with assistants Chad Acree and Kelsey Berchtold.
How it compares to Stark County volleyball
Both girls programmes at this school have the same underlying problem, which is that nobody has been filing results.
Volleyball’s IHSA record is 79-89-13 — a figure we have warned readers not to treat as an all-time mark, because it covers a partial decade ending in 2016-17 with holes in the middle. It shows one regional title, in 2013-14.
Basketball’s file is fuller and more current, but still stops in 2023. And we could not find a volleyball head coach listed anywhere for 2026 — no MaxPreps staff entry, no school directory we could reach.
Of all the schools we cover, Stark County is the one whose public record is in the worst condition. That is worth saying out loud, because it means anything quoted about these teams — here or elsewhere — is built on incomplete data.
2026-27 schedule
Stark County have one of the fuller girls listings in the conference — around 24 games posted, running from late November into early February. IHSA girls practice is scheduled to open Monday, November 2.
We will publish the full schedule on this page as soon as it is posted, and update results through the season.
Finding Stark County online
Stark County, Illinois is routinely confused with Stark County, Ohio — the much larger county containing Canton, home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Illinois county has about 5,500 people in total. The high school is in Toulon, which is also how the IHSA files it, so searching the state archive for “Stark County” returns nothing. “Rebels” and “Toulon” are the terms that work.
Coverage of Lincoln Trail basketball is thin in general. MaxPreps carries schedules and scores when schools update them, which is inconsistent at this level. The IHSA’s record pages are authoritative but frequently years behind. No local outlet runs a nightly area scoreboard in winter.
We will post results on this page through the season. If you have a score before we do, send it and it goes up with credit.

Where Stark County Rebels rank in the area
Across the fourteen girls basketball programmes we cover, Stark County Rebels sit sixth by all-time wins (559), fourth by winning percentage (.631) and fifth by regional championships (ten).
The nearest programmes by wins are Knoxville Blue Bullets above (688) and Ridgewood (AlWood) below (511).
Stark County Rebels have converted two of those ten regional titles into a sectional championship, losing at that stage eight times.
No state finals trophy. Five area programmes have one; this is not among them.
Full comparisons for every programme, plus conference structure, season dates and how the Illinois postseason works, are on our area girls basketball guide.
By the numbers
| Games on record | 886 |
| Recorded seasons | 31 |
| Average wins per season | 18.0 |
| Average games per season | 29 |
| Regional titles | 10 |
| Share of all area regionals | 8.9% |
| Years since last regional | 15 |
15 years without a regional means nobody currently in the school has seen one won.
What happened after 2011
Stark County won a sectional in 2010-11 and have not won a regional since. The fifteen years since include a one-win season and a filing gap of three years. For a programme with a .631 all-time record and a state finals appearance, that is a steep and largely undocumented decline.
Scott Paxson across two schools
Paxson coached Toulon (Toulon-LaFayette) for three seasons before the consolidation, then Stark County for twenty-two more. Twenty-five years in one small community, and every regional title and both sectionals in the programme record belong to his tenure. Few coaches in this conference have shaped a school so completely.
