Annawan Bravettes Volleyball: 2026 Schedule, Results and Roster

Annawan Bravettes · Annawan, Illinois

Latest result: did not play between August 31 and September 5. Now 0-6. Next: Henry-Senachwine at home, Tuesday September 8, 6:00.

2026: 0-6 · Coach: Gina Peterson · 2025: 10-20, eighth in the Lincoln Trail

The smallest school in the conference, from a town of 884, with two state basketball championships in its trophy case and an October fixture against the school it shares a football team with.

2026 so far

  • Aug 25 — lost at Alleman, 1-2
  • Aug 27 — lost to Morrison, 0-2
  • Aug 29 — lost at Galena, 0-2

The Alleman match went three, the other two did not.

No matches between August 31 and September 5. The last was the August 29 tournament. Note: one source dates a Warren defeat to August 31; the schedule and the 0-6 record both put it in the August 29 tournament, so we have not counted it separately.

The roster

Two seniors: defensive specialist Alexis Wilson and outside hitter Aaliyah Hayes.

The junior class carries the rest — middles Elynn Manuel and Lauren Davis, setter Tessa Gripp.

Caitlyn DeMay and Taylor Shaw assist. One thing we cannot resolve: MaxPreps lists both Gina Peterson and Allie Mackey as head coach. One is presumably the junior varsity. If you know which, tell us.

September schedule

Date Opponent Site
Sept 8 Henry-Senachwine Home
Sept 9 at Brimfield Away
Sept 16 at Abingdon-Avon † Away
Sept 17 West Carroll Home
Sept 19 Mendon Unity Home
Sept 23 Knoxville † Home
Sept 30 at United † Away

† Lincoln Trail Conference.

Seven matches in September — among the lighter schedules in the conference — with Abingdon-Avon away on the 16th the most winnable.

October 5

The fixture worth knowing about is not in September.

Annawan plays Wethersfield on October 5. The two schools co-op for football as the Annawan-Wethersfield Titans, currently 2-0 — but they do not co-op for volleyball or basketball.

So the same students who block for each other on a Friday night in October line up on opposite sides of a net in the same month. It is one of the stranger fixtures in Illinois high school sport.

Wethersfield is 3-1 and has finished first or second in the conference in each of the last two seasons. More on the Flying Geese →

2025

10-20 overall, 5-6 in conference, eighth of twelve. The season ended on October 27, losing to Alleman in three.

Annawan also won a regional in 2023, and beat United in that year’s sectional semifinal.

A note on the record books: MaxPreps lists Annawan at 10-20-1 for 2025, with a “tie” on October 18. Volleyball has no ties — that is a tournament artifact.

The two state championships

Annawan girls basketball won the IHSA Class 1A state championship in 2014, going 30-4 and beating Carrollton 59-23 in the final.

Three years later they did it again — 2017, 28-8, beating Mendon Unity 39-37.

Two state titles in four years, from a school with an IHSA enrollment of 94. That is the smallest school in the Lincoln Trail Conference, and among the smallest competing anywhere in Illinois.

Annawan is also one of the few schools in the region already fielding girls flag football, newly sanctioned by the IHSA.

The town

Annawan sits in Henry County with 884 residents. Its graduation rate, 96 percent, runs eight points above the state average.

It joined the Lincoln Trail Conference in 1995, alongside Princeville. More on the football co-op →

The postseason

State semifinals Friday, November 13, finals Saturday, November 14, at CEFCU Arena in Normal, Class 1A first at 9:00am.

Four October dates is unusually sparse for a Lincoln Trail school, and we suspect this listing is incomplete rather than a genuine four-match month. We are checking with the school and will update.

Six hundred wins and two sectional titles

Annawan’s IHSA volleyball record is 630-535-25 — a .540 winning percentage across 49 seasons beginning in 1976-77. Only Wethersfield and Knoxville have won more volleyball matches among schools in this coverage area, and Annawan’s filing is current through 2025-26, so the number is real rather than a stale snapshot.

Forty-nine consecutive seasons is itself the headline. Annawan has fielded a volleyball team every year the IHSA has kept records, in a village of roughly 800 people, and has finished above .500 across the whole span.

The postseason record shows five regional championships: 1989-90, 1994-95, 2010-11, 2018-19 and 2023-24. Two of those years produced more — the Bravettes won sectional championships in 1994-95 and 2023-24, thirty years apart. Neither team advanced past the super-sectional round, and Annawan has never reached a state finals.

The 2023-24 sectional title is the one that should shape expectations here. It is recent enough that players from that team may still be in the building, and it puts Annawan among only a handful of area programs to win a sectional in the last decade.

The most recent season on file is 2025-26 at 10-20-1 under Gina Peterson — a losing record two years removed from a sectional championship, which is the ordinary rhythm of small-school volleyball when a strong class graduates.

A correction worth noting on our own work: an earlier automated pass through the IHSA records produced seven regional years for Annawan. Five is the verified figure, confirmed by adding the individual season rows against the printed school total. We are noting it because we would rather show the error than quietly fix it.

Who is coaching in 2026

This one we cannot state cleanly. MaxPreps lists two people as head coachGina Peterson and Allie Mackey — with Caitlyn DeMay and Taylor Shaw assisting. Peterson has been the IHSA’s varsity coach of record continuously from 2016-17 through 2025-26, so the likeliest explanation is that Peterson leads varsity and Mackey leads JV, with both tagged the same way in the listing. We have not confirmed that and are not going to assert it. If you know, tell us.

What we have not been able to confirm

  • Which of the two listed head coaches leads the varsity program.
  • Whether the four-date October schedule is complete.
  • The 2026 roster, which has not been posted publicly.

Send us results

Volleyball gets a fraction of the coverage football does around here, and almost none of these matches are written up anywhere. If you have a result, a stat line or a photo, send it in — we post them as they come and correct errors the same day.
