United Red Storm Girls Basketball: 2026-27 Schedule and History

United Red Storm · Monmouth and Alexis, Illinois · Lincoln Trail Conference

Coach: Chris Olson · 2025-26: 9-20 · All-time: 184-416 (.307)

United girls basketball has won nothing in twenty-two seasons — no regional, no sectional, no state finals. The Class, Titles and Place columns are empty in all twenty-two rows. It is the only girls programme in this coverage area with a completely bare record.

And in 2024-25 they went 28-5.

The 28-5 season that produced nothing

Twenty-eight wins and five defeats, by a distance the best season in the programme’s history, under Chris Olson. No regional title came of it.

We have been careful with this, because on other pages we have warned that a missing title code often just means the IHSA has not filed it yet. Here the absence looks real. United’s 2025-26 row is present and also carries no title code, and the school appears nowhere in the IHSA’s recent title tables.

So a team went 28-5 and lost when it mattered. Then went 9-20 the following year.

The shape of the record

184-416 across 22 seasons since 2004-05. The last three: 16-12, then 28-5, then 9-20.

One structural oddity: this table has no coach subtotal lines at all, only individual season rows and a School Total. Every other programme we checked breaks the record down by coach. United’s does not, which means the record cannot be attributed to anyone in particular.

The filing is at least current through 2025-26 — better than most of this conference.

The comparison that matters

Set United’s two girls sports side by side and the contrast is the sharpest we have found anywhere in this coverage area.

Volleyball Basketball
All-time record 568-188 184-416
Winning percentage .751 .307
Seasons 22 22
Regional titles 9 0
Sectional titles 1 0

Same school. Same twenty-two years. Same girls, in many cases the same individuals playing both sports in the same school year.

United volleyball has the best winning percentage of any programme in this coverage area, in any sport. United girls basketball has the worst record of any girls programme and no titles at all. We have no explanation for that and are not going to invent one — but it is the single most striking thing in this school’s sporting record, and nobody appears to have written it down before.

2026-27 schedule

Around eight games are posted for 2026-27. IHSA girls practice is scheduled to open Monday, November 2.

We will publish the full schedule on this page as soon as it is posted, and update results through the season.

Finding United online

“United” is close to unsearchable on its own. The IHSA files this school as Monmouth (United) and MaxPreps as Monmouth United Red Storm. Searching “United basketball” returns Manchester United and a hundred other things; “Red Storm” is the term that works, though it is also St John’s University’s nickname. “United Red Storm Illinois” is the reliable phrase.

The school draws from Alexis, Monmouth, Seaton and the surrounding countryside in Warren and Mercer counties. Coverage of Lincoln Trail basketball is thin in general. MaxPreps carries schedules and scores when schools update them, which is inconsistent at this level. The IHSA’s record pages are authoritative but frequently years behind. No local outlet runs a nightly area scoreboard in winter.

We will post results on this page through the season. If you have a score before we do, send it and it goes up with credit.

What we are still chasing

  • Confirmation that the 28-5 team genuinely did not win a regional
  • Why the IHSA table carries no coach subtotals for this programme
  • The 2026-27 schedule and roster
  • Anyone who can explain the gap between the two sports — we would like to write that piece

The school and the conference

United CUSD 304 was formed in 2004 from Alexis and Monmouth Warren, with Monmouth Yorkwood annexed in 2007. The high school is north of Monmouth in Warren County, drawing from Alexis, Seaton, Little York and Kirkwood.

It plays in the Lincoln Trail Conference in basketball and volleyball, and in the LincolnLand Conference South in football — one of only two area schools in that division, alongside Abingdon-Avon. Conference alignment differing by sport is normal here and catches people out constantly.

Where United Red Storm rank in the area

Across the fourteen girls basketball programmes we cover, United Red Storm sit fourteenth by all-time wins (184), thirteenth by winning percentage (.307) and fourteenth by regional championships (no).

No area girls basketball programme has won fewer. The next above is West Central Heat, on 188.

With no regional title on record, United Red Storm have never reached the sectional round.

No state finals trophy. Five area programmes have one; this is not among them.

Full comparisons for every programme, plus conference structure, season dates and how the Illinois postseason works, are on our area girls basketball guide.

United have no regional title to date, so the final row has nothing to measure. That is the fact this page keeps returning to.

Twenty-two seasons, no title

United girls are the only programme in this coverage area — boys or girls, any sport we have examined — with a completely bare IHSA record across its entire existence. No class, no title, no place, in twenty-two seasons. The 28-5 team of 2024-25 came closest and still did not break it.
