The consolidated Monmouth-Roseville programme has won seven regional titles and two sectionals in twenty years. The bigger story sits in the predecessor record — a Monmouth team that finished second in the state in 1982.
1981-82: Monmouth High School, state runners-up
Before the consolidation, Monmouth High School went 31-3 under Mike Mueller and reached the Class A state championship game, losing to Lawrenceville 67-53.
That was the peak of a long programme. Monmouth (H.S.) carries 1,222-1,095 across 103 seasons from 1903-04 to 2005-06 — eighteen regional titles, six sectionals, two super-sectionals (1959-60 and 1981-82) and four district championships in the early 1930s.
The regionals: 1942-43, 1944-45, 1948-49, 1949-50, 1952-53, 1953-54, 1959-60, 1960-61, 1973-74, 1978-79, 1979-80, 1980-81, 1981-82, 1983-84, 1992-93, 1999-00, 2000-01, 2004-05.
The Roseville table, by contrast, is a stub — a printed total of 66-38 across four years spanning seventy seasons, with most rows carrying titles and no records. It is not usable as a record and we will not quote it as one.
The consolidated programme
Regional titles (7): 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15.
Sectional titles (2): 2006-07, 2012-13.
No super-sectional, no state finals. The Place column is empty throughout.
Three straight regionals to open the school’s existence, then four in a row from 2011-12. Nothing since 2014-15 — eleven years.
Where the programme is now
Below the historic standard. 15-17, then 15-18 under Jake Sottos, then 12-19 in Chuck Grant’s first season.
The IHSA has no 2025-26 row, so last winter is not on the public record. A .621 all-time mark that has not produced a title in a decade is a programme living on its first eight years.
How it compares to Mon-Rose football
Football is the stronger sport at this school right now. The Titans went 10-2 last season and reached a Class 3A quarter-final, and are 1-2 this autumn after a 26-14 win at Mercer County in Week 3.
Basketball’s last deep run was 2012-13.
2026-27 schedule
Monmouth-Roseville have the fullest boys listing in the area — around 24 games, running from November 25, 2026 to February 26, 2027, and including the Galesburg Thanksgiving Tournament and the WIU Holiday Tournament. IHSA practice is scheduled to open Monday, November 9.

Finding Monmouth-Roseville online
Monmouth is a crowded name. There is a Monmouth in New Jersey with a university, a Monmouth in Oregon, and Monmouth in Wales. The IHSA files this school as Monmouth (M.-Roseville) and the predecessor as Monmouth (H.S.). MaxPreps uses Monmouth-Roseville Titans. Searching “Titans” alone is no help either — every other school in America uses it. “Monmouth-Roseville Illinois” is the phrase that works.
Note also that Monmouth College, a Division III school, is in the same town and dominates searches for “Monmouth basketball”. Coverage of Lincoln Trail basketball is thin in general. MaxPreps carries schedules and scores when schools update them, which is inconsistent at this level. The IHSA’s record pages are authoritative but frequently years behind. No local outlet runs a nightly area scoreboard in winter.

The school
Monmouth-Roseville Community Unit School District 238 was formed in 2005 from Monmouth High School and Roseville High School. The high school is in Monmouth, a town of about 9,000 in Warren County, sixteen miles west of Galesburg and the seat of the county.
It is the second-largest school we cover after Galesburg, and the only one in the Three Rivers Conference. Monmouth is also home to Monmouth College, whose Division III programmes we cover separately — a fact that makes searching for “Monmouth basketball” unusually unhelpful.
Two decades, two halves
The consolidated programme splits neatly in two, and the split is worth seeing.

Every title this school has won came in its first ten years. The second decade has produced nothing, and the last three documented seasons are all losing ones.
That is not unusual for a small-city programme — Galesburg went from four straight state finals to a decade without a regional, and Knoxville have not won one since 1991. But it does mean the .621 all-time figure describes a programme that no longer exists in that form.
