AlWood were Illinois state runners-up in 1994 and finished third in 2010. Cambridge reached the state finals in 1985. The co-op that now represents both schools inherits three state finals appearances and two trophies — and a record book that stopped being updated years ago.
1993-94: 31-1, and second in the state
AlWood went 31-1 under Brad Jackson and finished second in Class A. Thirty-one wins and a single defeat, from a school in a village of a few hundred people.
They went back the following year at 28-2 and qualified again, though without a trophy — the 1994-95 Class A places went to Teutopolis, Carlyle, Normal University and Gillespie.
Jackson coached AlWood girls from 1990-91 to 2003-04 and went 244-136, a .642 record.
2009-10: third in the state
Fifteen years later AlWood went back. 32-3 under Bryan Brooks, third in Class 1A, beating Cowden (CHBC co-op) 54-44 in the third-place game on February 27, 2010.
That season also brought a regional and a sectional. It is the most recent state trophy won by any programme in this coverage area outside Annawan.
Cambridge in 1984-85
The other half of the co-op has its own state appearance. Cambridge went 24-3 under Carl Goff, won a regional and a sectional, took the super-sectional and reached the Class A state finals — without placing. The 1984-85 trophies went to Elgin (St. Edward), Teutopolis, Cairo and Bradford.
Cambridge’s other regional came in 1979-80. Their all-time mark is 147-89 across 13 recorded seasons, a .623 record — but see the warning below.
The two records
AlWood — 511-428 across 41 seasons since 1973-74. Regionals: 1991-92, 1992-93, 1993-94, 1994-95, 2009-10. Sectionals: 1992-93, 1993-94, 1994-95, 2009-10. State finals: 1993-94 (second), 1994-95, 2009-10 (third).
Cambridge — 147-89 across 13 seasons since 1975-76. Regionals: 1979-80, 1984-85. Sectional: 1984-85. State finals: 1984-85.
Both files have stopped
Cambridge is the most extreme case in the conference. The table runs 1975-76 to 1986-87, then jumps fifteen years to a single 2002-03 row, and stops. Nothing for more than twenty years.
AlWood’s last row is 2022-23 and it is blank. The last season with an actual record is 2021-22, 19-11 under Maggie Molek. Four seasons — 2016-17 to 2019-20 — are missing from the table entirely, and 2005-06, 2006-07 and 2015-16 are blank.
How it compares to Ridgewood volleyball
Volleyball has the same structural puzzle and less to show for it: AlWood 380-381 with one regional, Cambridge 165-223 with two, and no sectional in either lineage.
Basketball is where this co-op’s history lives. Three state finals appearances and two trophies across the two schools is a haul only Galesburg and Annawan can better in this area.

Across the fourteen girls basketball programmes we cover, Ridgewood (AlWood) sit seventh by all-time wins (511), ninth by winning percentage (.544) and seventh by regional championships (five).
The nearest programmes by wins are Stark County Rebels above (559) and ROWVA/Williamsfield Cougars below (505).
Ridgewood (AlWood) have converted four of those five regional titles into a sectional championship, losing at that stage one time.
The two state trophies in the cabinet are among only twelve won by area girls basketball programmes in total.

Where the Spartans come from
Ridgewood is a co-op of AlWood in Woodhull and Cambridge, formed in 2009 and covering basketball, volleyball and eight-man football. The IHSA never created a Ridgewood table; it kept the two old ones and files current results into one of them.
For girls basketball this is more than an administrative curiosity, because both predecessor programmes have state trophies — AlWood’s two, Cambridge’s finals trip in 1985 — and neither total is attributed to the school that now plays. A Ridgewood student looking up her own programme’s history will not find it under her school’s name.
Searching for this team
Use “Ridgewood AlWood Cambridge” or “Woodhull Illinois basketball”. A search for “Ridgewood High School” reaches Norridge, in the Chicago suburbs. There is no town called Ridgewood in Henry County.
Two trophies, one team, no name
AlWood finished second in state in 1994 and third in 2010. Cambridge reached the finals in 1985. Those three appearances belong to the girls now wearing Ridgewood colours in every sense except the one the record book recognises. It is worth saying plainly on a page like this, because no official source will say it for them.
