Galesburg-Area Football Results: Week 3, Friday September 4
Seven area games, 105 points in one of them, and a 0-3 team that came within a field goal of the best story of the night.
Here is every Galesburg-area final from Friday, September 4.

|---|---|---|
| Stark County at United | Stark County 54, United 51 | Monmouth |
| West Central vs Galva (8-man) | West Central 62, Galva 22 | Biggsville |

| ROWVA/Williamsfield at Illini West | Illini West 38, ROWVA/Williamsfield 30 | Carthage |

| Hamilton/Warsaw at Knoxville | Hamilton/Warsaw 22, Knoxville 20 | Knoxville |
Stark County 54, United 51
One hundred and five points. In a game between an eleven-man team from Toulon and a Red Storm side that has now lost three in a row.
Stark County arrived unbeaten and left unbeaten, but only just. United, winless through two weeks and outscored badly in both, put up fifty-one points in their own stadium and lost by three. That is not the performance of an 0-3 team, and it is the result most worth a second look this week.
The Rebels are now the only unbeaten eleven-man team in this coverage area.
West Central 62, Galva 22
The Heat move to 3-0 in eight-man football, and they are doing it emphatically — sixty-two points against a Galva side that had won its opener.
Worth a note for anyone tracking West Central: their Week 2 result was 48-20 over Blue Ridge/DeLand-Weldon, not 48-0. A local outlet printed the shutout version and it has propagated. We have corrected it on our team page.
Abingdon-Avon 41, Bureau Valley 16
The Tornadoes go to 2-1 with their most convincing performance of the season, on the road in Manlius. Rick Quinn’s first season back is taking shape.
One caveat we will flag rather than hide: five sources report this game 41-16, but On3 lists it as 41-35 and dates it September 5. We are going with 41-16 — both teams’ own schedule pages agree on it and On3 has the date wrong — but if you were at the game and the score was different, tell us and we will correct it.
United Township 38, Galesburg 28
Galesburg drops to 1-2 in the Western Big 6, losing a game they were in. Twenty-eight points on the road is not the problem; thirty-eight against is.
A second caveat: a ScoreStream page shows United Township beating Galesburg 40-14. We could not date that page and believe it is a previous season, because five sources — including both teams’ schedules — say 38-28 on September 4.
Illini West 38, ROWVA/Williamsfield 30
The Cougars lose by eight to a Carthage side that is now 3-0. ROWVA/Williamsfield have now dropped two straight after opening with a win.
Monmouth-Roseville 26, Mercer County 14
The Titans get their first win, on the road in Aledo, and it is the cleanest result of their season so far. After a 10-2 campaign and a Class 3A quarterfinal a year ago, a 1-2 start is not what Monmouth-Roseville expected — but the defensive rebuild we wrote about in August looked a good deal more settled here.
Hamilton/Warsaw 22, Knoxville 20
Two points at home. Knoxville fall to 1-2.
A naming note, because it causes real confusion: this opponent appears in different places as Hamilton/Warsaw, West Hancock and Hamilton West Hancock. All three are the same co-op. If you are searching for the result and finding nothing, that is why.

A change to how we do Friday nights
We have been publishing a live scoreboard at 4:15 on Friday afternoons and updating it as scores came in. It has not worked. We do not have anyone at the games, no score contact has materialised, and the honest result is that the page sat empty on Friday night three weeks running — which is worse than not running one at all.
So we are stopping. From Week 4 there will be no live Friday scoreboard. Instead there will be a complete results post on Saturday morning, with every area final, records, and what the night changed — verified against multiple sources before it goes up, the way this one was.
Slower, but real. We would rather be right on Saturday than empty on Friday.
If that changes — if a coach, an athletic director or a parent wants to text finals on a Friday night — the live version comes straight back. The offer stands.

Corrections, missing scores, individual performances, photographs: send them and they go up with credit. We correct errors the same day we learn about them.
Scores verified against MaxPreps team schedule pages, Sports Illustrated / Scorebook Live, Fox 32 Chicago’s statewide Week 3 roundup and Our Sentinel, retrieved September 6, 2026. Where sources disagreed we have said so above rather than picking quietly. No individual statistics were published by any source we could reach for these seven games — if you have them, we want them.
